Before heading out on a #Borneo wilderness adventure to find orangutan in the wild, we stopped at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. It is at this orangutan orphanage that we get our first glimpse of the endangered primate. Sepilok provides medical care for orphaned and confiscated orangutans with the goal of rehabilitating them and returning them to the wild. We are blessed to be able to see dozens of orangutans in this intimate setting and learned how habitat loss its threatening the future of this noble creature.

One of the most famous animals in the #Galapagos is the Galapagos sea lion. Endemic to the Galapagos, these playful mammals can be seen all over the islands. While you will most often encounter them lounging on rocks and beaches, if you are lucky, they will also join you while you are snorkeling or kayaking. They dry off by rolling around in the sand, which is what this guy did before mugging for the camera. There are strict rules to stay at least 3 meters away from the sea lions, but that is a perfect distance to get intimate shots with just about any camera. Our National Geographic Expediton to the Galapagos took us to the remote island of Genovesa, a beautiful, crescent shaped caldera just north of the equator. This is also known as Bird Island for the abundance of bird colonies that nest here. We were thrilled to get close to the colorful male frigatebirds, showing off their red sacs to potential mates. @natgeocreative #NatGeoExpeditions

One of the highlights of any trip to the #Galapagos is a chance to see the giant tortoise. We made the trip to the highlands of Santa Cruz island to see them roaming in their natural habitat.
